Justine Lee

Lecturer in Fibres | Knitwear Course

Justine Lee is a lecturer in fibres on Albion’s knitwear programme, bringing a deep understanding of yarn, hand knitting, and hand flat knitting into the classroom. With over 25 years’ experience working as a knitwear designer, her teaching is rooted in both technical knowledge and real industry practice.

Her expertise spans the full knitwear process, with a particular focus on fibres and yarn selection — helping students understand how material choices directly influence structure, performance, and final garment quality. Justine is especially passionate about demystifying yarns, enabling students to make informed decisions and develop confidence in their technical vocabulary and professional judgement.

Justine enjoys teaching students at all stages, but has a particular affinity for beginners, where she finds energy in seeing passion, potential, and confidence grow. She values hands-on learning and takes pride in guiding students through tangible milestones, from understanding fibre properties to completing a garment from scratch.

Outside the classroom, Justine is drawn to sustainability, hand skills, and the study of vintage knitwear, where she continues to find inspiration in historical patterns, techniques, and craftsmanship.

Her advice to students is simple and grounded: take time to understand what makes your work distinct, bring your passion to the process, and commit to learning with patience and curiosity.
